My approach
I work with individuals who feel stuck, who struggle to feel comfortable being with themselves or with others, who find their emotions to be overwhelming or avoid difficult emotions altogether, who feel trapped by their anxiety, or who feel like life is unfulfilling, like something is missing. We will work toward living a wholehearted, compassionate, and flexible life that includes the full spectrum of experiences, from joy to sorrow.
I work with couples to more fully connect with one another and find safety, security, trust, and satisfaction in your relationship. I help couples recognize and shift negative dynamics, fostering secure bonds and deepening intimacy and relationship satisfaction. I teach couples how to express their underlying, core emotions, respond to each other with empathy, and rebuild trust.
I understand that the therapeutic relationship, based on trust, non-judgement, and safety, comes before all other things in our work together. I also acknowledge that change does not occur solely within the container of therapy, rather, it happens out there in your “real life.” Therapy is a space to experiment, try new things, and reach for connection, whether it's with yourself or your partner.
We should never wait until we are perfect or fully “healed” to start living our lives. The rest of your life begins now.
-
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a structured, evidence-based approach designed to help individuals, couples, and families create stronger, more secure emotional connections. Rooted in attachment theory, EFT helps people identify patterns in their relationships, understand the emotions beneath those patterns, and build more open, trusting communication. Whether you're struggling with conflict, distance, or past wounds, EFT offers a supportive path toward healing and deeper connection. Together, we’ll work to transform emotional struggles into opportunities for growth and intimacy.
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a modern, evidence-based approach that helps you build a rich, meaningful life while learning to accept the thoughts and feelings that are out of your control. Rather than trying to eliminate difficult emotions, ACT teaches you how to relate to them differently—so they have less power over you. Through mindfulness, values-based living, and psychological flexibility, ACT supports you in taking committed action toward what truly matters to you, even in the face of discomfort. It's not about fixing yourself—it's about freeing yourself to live more fully.
A little bit more about me…
I currently live in Washington, DC with my husband and two rescue dogs, Gustav and Hildy. Born and raised in the DMV, I lived in San Diego, California for the better part of 10 years, where I completed my master’s and licensure in social work, met my husband, and adopted my pups, before moving back home.
I am passionate about cooking, baking, and eating, am an unabashed fan of the romantic comedy film genre, and recently took up pottery in my free time. I love being silly and try not to take myself too seriously.
I believe in the dignity, breadth, and scope of human existence and identity. I am an intersectional feminist and strive to practice anti-racism. Compassion, curiosity, and courage are some of my daily practiced values. I am accepting of all identities, orientations, body sizes, races, ethnicities, and cultures.
